DESCRIPTION
The light installation LUPO stages a 1,20 m long industrial bubble wrap roll with extra-large air pockets (32 mm) by integrating conventional LED tube lamps usually used on construction sites.
MANUFACTURE & STRUCTURE
Three tube lamps are plugged into each side of the roll and form an effective connection to the layered transparent plastic material. The cable endings are fulfilling two simple tasks: on the one hand they power the lamps inside the roll, on the other hand they build a simple, elegant but strong suspension to the ceiling.
BACKGROUND
An experimental and artistical project inspired to focus on random found objects and focus on special material qualities. In that case the fascination for bubble wrap led to the aim to emphasize its specific properties through light.
